Project Brief Introduction
In 2021, we launched an interactive New Year campaign website for virtual shrine visits, combining Japanese cultural traditions with web-based engagement. Users could draw omikuji (fortunes) online and experience a festive, gamified interface designed to bring joy and cultural connection during the pandemic.

Project Background
The Japanese company I was working for operated a word-based media site. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwanese travelers were unable to visit Japan—a favorite destination during the New Year holidays.
To address this, we launched a virtual shrine experience specifically for Taiwanese users, allowing them to draw omikuji online in a cute and entertaining way. The goal was to recreate the joyful ritual of shrine visits and deliver positive energy to users during uncertain times.
